What is technique?
Technique is the basic foundation of dance. During a technique class, dancers work on turnout, placement, balance and center. Technique class consists of barre and center work, including adagio and allegro combinations, turns, jumps and leaps.

Fundamental and beginning level classes are the building blocks of dance. These classes offer the beginning student the "A, B, C's" of dance. Appropriate for the beginning dancer of any age. These basic classes are open to everyone.
Advanced begining level classes are for students with several years of dance experience.
Intermediate level classes are for students with previous dance experience. These classes move faster. Certain Intermediate classes require strong dance skills.
Advanced level classes are for the serious student. These classes move at a fast pace and utilize advanced dance concepts. Advanced classes require several years of technique. These classes move quickly.
Intensive level classes are classes that meet several days in a row.
Pointe classes are for students who have reached an approved level of technique. Dancers approved for pointe are required to attend technique twice a week.
What if I register for the wrong level?
Hopkins Dance reserves the right to change your registration as deemed necessary. If you are unsure of your level, register for the younger age. Students can be moved to other levels at the discretion of the teacher. Level changes are made in the best interest of the dancer and the class. We will work with you to find the correct level for you.
